What a year for cheer! When a few enthusiastic learners insisted that D.F. Malherbe High School deserved a cheerleading squad during 2022, they did not skip a step in making it happen. The inaugural auditions were held in the second term and, unsurprisingly, there was no shortage of talent. We finally whittled the long list down to seventeen cheer leaders from Grades 10 and 11. Sleepy Sundays were sacrificed as rehearsals began in earnest and our new D.F. divas backflipped, pirouetted and swayed towards perfection. Preceding the interschools competition, they dazzled D.F. Malherbe with a taste of what was to come. Of course, they had loads of help from our outfitters, #Hashtag, who put pep in their step with professional-looking pom-poms and uniforms to match. The D.F. cheer squad proved they were a force to be reckoned with when their routine demonstrated their determination, diligence, and diva energy during the interschools festivities. We should be left in no doubt that they will continue to bring the cheer at every event!
