The Marimba Ensemble is an accessible platform for non-subject music learners, since neither technical skills nor music theory is necessary. The ensemble is taught popular and traditional songs with an authentic touch. We’ve taken a liking to Michael Jackson, Queen, and South African composers. Each ensemble consists of a maximum of five learners in a group, split in to the bass, tenor and soprano marimbas. We have weekly rehearsals for 45 minutes where we learn sticking, grip work, rhythms and musicality! The learners perform at our Music Evenings, Grade 8 Info evening, in collaboration with other ensembles, the D.F. Arts Festival and much more! It’s definitely an exciting and refreshing extra-mural activity for learners!
