ESPORTS
D.F. Malherbe High School’s Esports is divided into two sections, namely the fun LAN activity and competitive gaming.
The fun gaming LAN usually takes place on the first Monday of the school holidays. The learners bring their PC setups or consoles to school and game for 12 hours with friends. Games such as Fortnite, Counterstrike and many others are played.
The competitive section consists of playing Counterstrike against other schools. We also compete at the annual interschools’ competition.
D.F. Malherbe has 5 gaming PC’s at the school where the learners may practice for the leagues or use for the LAN’s.
ROBOTICS
The Robotics club incorporates two teams of 5 learners who engineer and program robots that must perform certain tasks autonomously within a timeframe. This is mechatronics for high school learners. The learners join to better themselves in intense problem solving, stress management and interactions within a team and the wider community.
D.F. Malherbe High School Robotics has a long history of success. In the 7 years of participating in the FLL competition, we came 1st in South Africa in 2017! We have achieved 1st place in the Eastern Cape numerous times.
The learners chosen are the cream of the crop They must apply and undergo an interview before being accepted in the Robotics club.
