INTERHOUSE SYSTEM
Our house system promotes team building and social skills by fostering healthy student engagement through a wide variety of inter-house competitions. Every learner and every member of staff is a member of one of three houses.
The three houses (HAUMAN, VAN WYK AND VOSLOO) named after the three principals after D.F. Malherbe High School became a dual-medium school, are led by respective house parents and learner committees who motivate students towards mass participation and healthy competition.
Our first competition of the year is the interhouse athletics meeting. This is followed by an interhouse fun day at the end of the first term. The interhouse plays and arts festival held in the second and third terms allows for participation in a variety of cultural events. The winter sport interhouse festival is the culmination of the year’s interhouse activities.
Points accumulated throughout the year from a variety of interhouse activities count towards the awarding of annual trophy for excellence in sports and co-curricular activities, both on an individual and team level.
